Understanding homelessness!

This week is #HomelessnessWeek. Safe and secure housing is fundamental to people’s health and wellbeing. Governments across Australia fund a range of services to provide support to people who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness.

These services are delivered by non-government organisations including agencies specialising in delivering services to specific target groups, such as young people or people experiencing family and domestic violence, as well as those that provide more generic services to those facing housing instability. Together these services support thousands of people every year.

We’re shining a light on some of these vulnerable groups this week, and it’s also an opportune time to revisit one of our old reports on Specialist Homelessness Services, released in December of last year, with data relating to these specific client groups. This report and our future work will continue to help policymakers improve client-tailored policies.
