Other areas

During 2019–20 to 2022–23, other areas of spending besides primary health care, hospitals, referred medical services and aged care accounts for a further $2.6 billion of which:

  • $1.5 billion for capital expenditure of which:
    • Equipment (for example, new ventilators) $0.8 billion
    • Facilities (minor capital expenditure) $0.3 billion
    • Upgrades to ICT systems related to COVID–19 activity $0.2 billion
    • Vaccination sites $0.1 billion
  • $0.7 billion for patient transport costs
  • $0.2 billion for health research
  • $0.1 billion for health administration
  • $0.02 billion for the education of health professionals
