Services provided under outreach programs (RHOF)

Measure 4.4.2: The number of occasions of service with eye health professionals for Indigenous Australians under the Rural Health Outreach Fund (RHOF), per 1,000 population.

Outreach programs are designed to address the uneven distribution of the health workforce and to improve access to eye health services across Australia.

  • In 2017–18, a total of 7,821 occasions of eye health services for Indigenous patients were provided under the RHOF.
  • The number and rate of Indigenous eye health occasions of service under the RHOF was highest in the Northern Territory (3,248, or 44 per 1,000), followed by Western Australia (2,258, or 38 per 1,000).
