This web report supplements the Alcohol and other drug treatment services in Australia 2016–17 report by presenting key state and territory findings on clients, closed treatment episodes, and treatment agencies in 2016–17.
In 2016–17, more than half of the 87 treatment agencies in Western Australia were located in Major cities (59%) (Figure 16; Table SA.3). Of the agencies located in Major cities, 96% of them were non-government organisations. Very remote areas were the only areas where there were more government than non-government agencies. In the 5 years to 2016–17, the number of publicly funded treatment agencies in Western Australia rose from 68 to 87 (Table SA.1).
