This web report supplements the Alcohol and other drug treatment services in Australia 2016–17 report by presenting key state and territory findings on clients, closed treatment episodes, and treatment agencies in 2016–17.
Nearly all (96%) clients in Tasmania in 2016–17 were receiving treatment for their own drug use, and most (66%) were male (Figure 21; Table SC Tas.1). The reverse was true for clients receiving treatment or support for someone else’s drug use (74% were female). Over half (52%) of clients were aged 20–39 years (Table SC TAS.2). Just over 1 in 10 clients were Indigenous Australians (12%), which is lower than the national average (15%) (Tables SC TAS.3 and SC.4).
