This web report supplements the Alcohol and other drug treatment services in Australia 2016–17 report by presenting key state and territory findings on clients, closed treatment episodes, and treatment agencies in 2016–17.
Most (93%) clients in the Northern Territory in 2016–17 were receiving treatment for their own drug use, and most were male (70%) (Figure 29; Table SC NT.1). The reverse was true for clients receiving treatment or support for someone else’s drug use (69% were female). Over half (52%) of clients were aged 20–39 years, and 18% of clients were aged 10–19 years which is higher the national average (13%) (Tables SC.3; SC NT.2). Over two-thirds of clients were Indigenous Australians (70%), which is substantially higher than the national average (15%) (Tables SC NT.3 and SC.4).
