What is being tracked?

Measure: Number of complaints related to abuse and neglect per 1,000 NDIS participants

This measure is part of the Safety from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation priority of the Strategy. This priority is about making sure services for people with disability are high quality and safe, and that people with disability are safe.

The desired outcome is that fewer complaints related to abuse and neglect are made by National Disability Insurance Scheme participants.

The data in the graph and the table below show the number of complaints related to abuse and neglect per 1,000 NDIS participants. Data from 2021–22 and 2022–23 are used. In 2022–23 there were 2.2 complaints per 1,000 NDIS participants compared with 1.9 complaints per 1,000 NDIS participants in 2021–22.

The data in the graph and the table below show the number of complaints related to abuse and neglect per 1,000 NDIS participants, grouped by Australian states and territories. In 2022–23, in South Australia there were 3.5 complaints per 1,000 NDIS participants. In the Northern Territory, there were 0.4 complaints per 1,000 NDIS participants.
