People aged 18 and over, with disability and who self-identified as having disability or a long-term health condition.1

Numerator

Number of people with disability (weighted) who responded “Always” or “Often” to “In general, how often do you feel valued and respected in your community?”.

Denominator

Number of people with disability (weighted) who responded “Always”, “Often”, “Some of the time”, “Hardly ever”, or “Never” to “In general, how often do you feel valued and respected in your community?”.

Computation description

Number of people with disability (weighted) who responded “Always” or “Often” to “In general, how often do you feel valued and respected in your community?”, divided by the number of people with disability (weighted) who responded “Always”, “Often”, “Some of the time”, “Hardly ever”, or “Never” to “In general, how often do you feel valued and respected in your community?”.

Expressed as a weighted average of percentage of positive responses.

Notes
  1. Since the purpose of this question was to measure the degree of general community attitudes specifically towards people with disability, the question was only asked of people who have disability and who also self-identify as having disability.
  2. People with disability who chose to skip the question “In general, how often do you feel valued and respected in your community?”, or responded “Not sure” or “Prefer not to answer” were excluded from the calculation.
