Prevention initiatives support children and young people to recognise gender-based violence

  • Understanding of violence against women among young people

    The level of understanding of violence against women is measured by the Understanding of Violence against Women Scale (UVAWS) of the National Community Attitudes Survey (NCAS). A higher mean score indicates a higher level of understanding of violence against women and is desirable.

    Sub-outcome: 5.3 Targeted prevention initiatives support children and young people to recognise the drivers and behaviours that constitute gender-based violence (GBV) and the long-term consequences

    Indicator: Increased understanding by children and young people of the behaviours that constitute GBV and recognition that the impacts can be long-lasting

Children and young people have equal, healthy, and respectful relationships

  • Youth offenders of sexual assault and related offences

    Sexual assault and related offences are acts, or intent of acts, of a sexual nature against another person, which are non-consensual or where consent is proscribed. Youth offenders are offenders aged 10–17.

    Sub-outcome: 5.5 Children and young people have equal, healthy, and respectful relationships

    Indicator: Decrease in rate of youth offender of sexual assault and related offences
