This report estimates that in 2018-19, $2.4 billion was spent managing diseases caused by insufficient physical activity. The amount of physical activity that Australians did participate in prevented $1.7 billion in spending on diseases. At the same time, a further $1.2 billion in health spending could have been avoided through improved injury prevention and management in sport and other forms of physical activity (11% of total injury costs).
