What is being tracked?

Measure: Qualification completion rate for Vocational Education and Training (VET) students aged 15–64 with disability, compared with students without disability

This measure is part of the Participation in tertiary education priority of the Strategy. This priority is about supporting people with disability participate in and complete additional education after high school.

The desired outcome is that the gap between the proportion of students with disability and those without disability who complete a VET course is reduced.

Has the qualification completion rate for VET students with disability compared to the rate for VET students without disability (aged 15–64) changed over time?

The data in the graph and the table below show the qualification completion rate for VET students aged 15–64 with disability, compared with students without disability. Data for cohorts 2015–2019 to 2018–2022 are used. For the 2018–2022 cohort, the qualification completion rate for VET students with disability was 42%, compared with 49% for VET students without disability. For the 2015–2019 cohort, the qualification completion rate for VET students with disability was 39%, compared with 43% for VET students without disability.

State and territory

Does the qualification completion rate for VET students with disability compared to the rate for VET students without disability (aged 15–64) vary between states and territories?

The data in the graph and the table below show the qualification completion rate for VET students aged 15–64 with disability, compared with students without disability, grouped by Australian states and territories. For the 2018–2022 cohort, in Queensland the qualification completion rate for VET students with disability was 46%, compared with 34% in South Australia.

    The data in the graph and the table below show the qualification completion rate for VET students aged 15–64 with disability, compared with students without disability, by Indigenous status. For the 2018–2022 cohort, 30% of First Nations students with disability completed their VET qualification compared with 43% of non-Indigenous students.

    The data in the graph and the table below show the qualification completion rate for VET students aged 15–64 with disability, compared with students without disability, for males and females.
