Notes |
Data for the National Homicide Monitoring Program (NHMP) are derived from both police records and coronial records. Data from police records are cross-referenced with coronial records from the NCIS. NHMP data are supplemented with material from court documents where available. The NHMP collects information on homicide incidents, victims and offenders. The homicide classification used here is based on the closest relationship between the victim and primary offender. Intimate partner homicides include homicides where the relationship of the victim to the offender was an intimate partner – victim and offender are current or former partners (married, de facto, boyfriend/girlfriend).
It excludes attempts to unlawfully kill and conspiracy to kill. |
