Youth offenders of sexual assault and related offences

Technical specifications for National Plan Outcomes

Attributes

Sub-outcome

5.5 Children and young people have equal, healthy, and respectful relationships.

Indicator

Decrease in rate of youth offender of sexual assault and related offences.

Measure

Rates of offending of sexual assaults and related offences among youth offenders.

Interpretation

A decrease in offending rates of sexual assaults and related offences may indicate that fewer people are choosing to use sexual violence.
However, not all sexual assaults and related offences are reported to police. Changes in offender rates over time can be influenced by greater detection, or more reporting. The data from this measure should be considered alongside prevalence rates for sexual violence.
