Emergency Department dashboard
The emergency department dashboard allows you to view statistics about leading causes for presentations, principal diagnosis, arrival mode, triage category and episode end status.
Step 1: Select a dashboard page from the buttons at the top (for example, overview, regional comparison).
Step 2: Select a topic to view statistics on (presentations, principal diagnosis, presentation characteristics).
Step 3: Select filter options to change statistics presented (urban area, statistic).
Data for this dashboard are from the National Non-admitted Patient Emergency Department Care Database (NNAPEDCD) for 2019–20 to 2023–24 (including 5-years combined).
NNAPEDCD data count non-admitted emergency department (ED) presentations in hospitals. Each presentation to an ED is counted as one record. If the same person presents multiple times, each presentation is counted separately. Therefore, the numbers presented do not reflect the total number of individual patients.
NNAPEDCD rates are presented per 1,000 population. Crude rates have been made available for First Nations people only, to avoid direct comparisons. For comparisons between First Nations and non-Indigenous populations where age-specific rates are not available, refer to age-standardised rates.
The emergency department dashboard presents data for urban areas (based on Greater Capital City Statistical Areas (GCCSA)) and their contributing Statistical Area Level 4 (SA4) and Statistical Area Level 3 (SA3) regions. National and state and territory data are also presented.
