- BMI is a ratio of height and weight and is calculated by dividing a person’s weight in kilograms by the square of their height in metres (kg/m2). The same BMI categories are used in pregnant and non-pregnant women. A healthy range of BMI is 18.5 to 24.9. - The data associated with each record in the NPDC include the Statistical Area Level 2 (SA2) of residence of the mother. The SA2 variable was used to aggregate and concord data as necessary to GCCSA. Except for the Australian Capital Territory, data at the GCCSA level were aggregated from SA2. For the Australian Capital Territory, the state and territory level and GCCSA data are the same as they pertained to the same geographic boundary.
- GCCSA data are derived from SA2 of the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) 2021 Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS).
- Australia and state and territory level data include births where mother’s SA2 of usual residence was not stated or missing.
