What is being tracked?

Measure: Proportion of people with disability who completed Year 12 (or equivalent)

The Strategy would like to see the following tracked – proportion of students with disability who complete Year 12 (or equivalent). Available data do not currently allow this.

This measure is part of the Participation in school education priority of the Strategy. This priority is about supporting students with disability to finish high school.

The desired outcome is that more students with disability finish Year 12.

Has the proportion of people with disability who completed Year 12 changed over time?

The data in the graph and the table below show the proportion of people with disability (aged 20–64) who completed Year 12 (or equivalent). Data from 2012 to 2018 are used. In 2018, the proportion of people with disability who had completed Year 12 was 45%, compared with 37% in 2012.

State and territory

Does the proportion of people with disability who completed Year 12 vary between states and territories?

The data in the graph and the table below show the proportion of people with disability (aged 20–64) who completed Year 12 (or equivalent), grouped by Australian states and territories. In the Australian Capital Territory, 76% of people with disability had completed Year 12, compared with 44% in both New South Wales and Queensland.

    The data in the graph and the table below show the proportion of people with disability (aged 20–64) who completed Year 12 (or equivalent), by Indigenous status. In 2018, the proportion of people with disability who had completed Year 12 was 25% for First Nations people, compared with 46% for non-Indigenous people.

    The data in the graph and the table below show the proportion of people with disability (aged 20–64) who completed Year 12 (or equivalent), for males and females. In 2018, the proportion of people with disability who had completed Year 12 was 42% for males, compared with 49% for females.
