Description of data source

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations enables access to quality skills, training and employment to support Australians to find secure work in fair, productive and safe workplaces.1

Disability

Disability status is derived from Job Seeker Classification Instrument (JSCI) questions around partial work capacity, and income support type.

Age groups

For job seekers in the numerator, age is calculated based on the most recent job placement date within the assessment period. For all other job seekers, age is calculated at their period of assistance exit date if they have exited jobactive, or as at 31 March 2023 for job seekers on the caseload at that date.

Gender/sex

'Male’ and 'Female’ reported.

Indigenous status

Indigenous status is derived from the combination of Job Seeker Classification Instrument (JSCI) and Services Australia Registration data. Indigenous identification in the JSCI is voluntary.

Definition of CALD

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) cohort includes people born in countries other than main English-speaking countries (Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the USA, Canada, Republic of Ireland, and South Africa).

Geographic information

Data are based on the 2016 Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS).

Remoteness is classified according to Accessibility and Remoteness Index of Australia.2
