Notes
  1. The Strategy was set to see the following tracked – proportion utilisation of NDIS participants’ plans on assistive technology supports. Measure wording has been revised to clarify its intent.
  2. Data are for NDIS participants aged 15–64 who had an active plan at the quarter end.
  3. Participants are likely to still be using and benefitting from assistive technology (as a capital investment) even if there are no costs incurred during a 12-month period.
  4. Eligibility requirements for the NDIS include that the disability is caused by an impairment, is likely to be permanent, the permanent impairment substantially reduces the individual's functional capacity, affects their ability to work, study or take part in social life, and that the individual is likely to need support under the NDIS for their whole life.
  5. Data as at 31 March 2026. This is a 3-month lag to the latest quarter. Results may change as a result of lagged claims.
  6. In July 2026, all data since baseline at 2021–22 Q2 (December quarter) were revised. The data show the proportion of active NDIS participants receiving assistive technology (AT) supports of any value relative to those claiming all types of supports.
  7. Revised trends data show lower numerators and higher denominators than previously published figures. The updated numerators count NDIS participants only once if they claim either AT equipment or continence support (a type of AT) at the end of each quarter, instead of double-counting participants. The revised denominators include all NDIS participants who received any supports at the end of each quarter, rather than limiting to those with an active AT plan at both the start and end of the 12-month period. As a result, previously published data should not be compared with the revised data.
