Expenditure on mental health services indicators

The average cost per acute patient day has increased over time. For General (adult) services the national average increased from $1,094 per patient day in 2005–06 to $1,730 in 2023–24, adjusted for inflation. 

Since 2005–06, the national average cost per community mental health treatment day has ranged from $410 to $505, adjusted for inflation.
