  1. ‘Participants’ refers to the number of participants aged 50–74 screened through BreastScreen Australia in each 2‑year reporting period. The reporting periods cover 1 January of the initial year to 31 December of the latter year indicated.
  2. ‘Population’ is the average of the ABS estimated resident population, for women aged 50–74, for the 2 reporting years.
  3. Crude rate is the number of participants aged 50–74 screened in each 2‑year reporting period, as a percentage of the ABS estimated resident population.
  4. Age‑standardised (AS) rate is the number of participants aged 50–74 screened in each 2‑year reporting period, as a percentage of the ABS estimated resident population, age‑standardised to the Australian population at 30 June 2001.
  5. COVID-19 affected these results.
  6. The population data from 2014–2015 to 2019–2020 have been updated. Therefore, these data may differ from previously published data.
