All new project and amendment applications must be submitted to the Ethics Committee Secretariat via EthOS by the submission deadline (6 weeks prior to the meeting date) as listed in the table below.
It is advised that you plan your application (including supporting documents) early to allow for AIHW requirements to be considered in the research design phase, including in the development of any consent forms and community consultation strategy, and to incorporate Secretariat review and feedback. See Data integration and Applying for ethical (HREC) review for information about the application pathway, and for considerations before applying. Please note that the National Statement requires researchers and reviewers consider potential sources of increased risk to research participants and provides guidance on how research should be designed, reviewed and conducted in order to minimise risks to certain groups of participants, including First Nations people.
Meeting the submission deadline does not guarantee your application will be considered at the associated meeting. The Secretariat will only commence review once payment has been received or a fee waiver request approved; and may request additional information as part of the review process. The Secretariat will only progress applications to the Committee when sufficient information has been provided to demonstrate that all requirements have been met.
Queries regarding applications should be directed to [email protected].
