The CP NMDS is an annual collection of information on child protection in Australia. It contains data on children who come into contact with state and territory departments responsible for child protection including: notifications, investigations and substantiations; care and protection orders; funded out-of-home care; and data for reporting on the National Standards for Out-of-Home Care (NOOHCS). Data relating to carer households are also collected. Some data are collected in aggregate format. The data are published annually by the AIHW and are also used for the Report on Government Services.
