Data is collected for all maternal deaths (up to and including 42 days post-partum) occurring in each state or territory.
Data collection commenced from 1 January 2013. Retrospective data for 2006-2012 has also been provided by most jurisdictions.
Late maternal deaths (occurring from 43 days postpartum up to and including 365 days post-partum) are optional and can be supplied if the state/territory wishes to do so.
